Children all of this talk of warfare is what encourages the idiots in power to think they have a chance.
In the case of invading Iran, Where are the troops going to come from, and what will they use for equipment ?
As it is the forces are barely holding their own in Iraq and Afghanistan and there is a shortage of equipment in the US as units are being stripped of trucks, tanks and the like.
Tons of equipment is shipped back stateside as they break down or are damaged.
The Hummer is proving to a liability, and the new vehicles promised are being scaled back by the bean counters in Washington.
Not even Israel would be foolish to take on Iran. The whole Islamic world would turn on them and the support by the US to Israel would be minimal as I have pointed out.
An all out war stretching from Afghanistan in the east to Israel in the West would leave the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan bottled In, fighting on two fronts.
As for obtaining Allies, that is a figment of your imagination. In fact you would probably loose Pakistan, what little support you get from Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines,
China and Russia would veto any UN authorisation for military action and I can't imagine Britain or NATO would lend a hand, or for that any of the Europeon nations

What would be the point right now? I think if anyone should be "dealing" with Iran, its Israel. Diplomatically! Now, its been made clear that Israel's issue #1 right now is Palestine. There doesn't seem to be any resolve as of yet, and it doesn't look like Palestine has any interest in stopping the hostility, so Iran will have to take the backseat for now. I believe Iran is looking for attention right now. If Iran wanted to nuke anyone, it would be somewhat less conspicuous, imho.

What possible excuse do we have? Have they invaded a neighbour? We certainly can't criticize them for electing a moron who maintains a squad of hatchet men who attack any critics who any him.
This argument seems familiar. We should attack Iran because they are preparing weapons of mass destruction. While we are at it, let's attack France and Israel! They claim to have WMDs, too!
Does anybody have an exit strategy? When will we have won? I am afraid that a lot of people out in voterland will not be happy until all the hairy semites are asking Jesus to forgive their sins. Just when are we going to be satisfied?

I don't think that is necessary. What we need to do is up the financing of Anti-Government groups, we also need to neuter the iranian government by also upping defections of key Iranian person to give us all of their secrets. We also need to discredit the government in the eyes of their people by upping propaganda against the government. If we attack them, that will solidify support for their government. (Americans may not like Bush but if we were attacked you can bet that all of our guns would be turned on our attackers)

No. The diplomatic route should be allowed to succeed or fail first. In the event of diplomatic failure, U.N. sanctions should follow.
War and invasion are always the last options, only if necessary, should they be exercised.
