What the hell is this? my parents taught me be nice .?

as my parents taught me, be nice to everyone.then i left my home, and start working.i saw ppl r lying on small things and
cheating each other. even ppl take advantage of my BE NICE
attitude.
i m confused, what the hell my parents taught me.this is diffrent world.
how should i behave? be nice or be bad.

Hard to tell you what is right here. You just have to be true to yourself and treat people the way you were taught but then in todays world, nice people finish last. You just have to be prepared to treat each person the way they treat you. Im not telling you to be bad but just dont take anyones crap if not deserved. Most people today have no idea what to do when someone is nice to them so you can always set an example, but understand everyone is different so be prepared for anything to happen. I am a very polite and nice person as taught by my parents. Some peoples nice is taken as a sign of weakness and those people will try to take advantage of you. Being nice is one thing, but you must learn to roar like a lion/ness when these people try to take of advantage of you. You will not only express your displeasure, people will respect you a lot more.
