Do you think the "Laws of War" should be amended to contain limits to how long a war or armed conflict should be?

Mike-how about an actual answer. I didn't state that there should be limits. I'm asking a QUESTION, so if you're going to answer it do so, otherwise you just look like a jerk trying to score 2 points.

yes, particularly in relation to the current crisis in iraq. the US and UK should pull out all of it's troops and send them home so they could be with their loved ones. this war in iraq has gone on for too long, 4 years in fact when it should've been over ages ago. although i must say that i for one was initially against the invasion of iraq -and to this day i haven't changed my opinion on it since then

In CB's defense..."Laws of War" are written by those who haven't ever been there. In the field, the bullets don't follow the "laws".

The limit of war should be until it is won. You can't pack up when you want to. You have to finish what you have started. As long as someone shoots at me, the war isn't over.

Recent example - Bush Sr. didn't "finish" what was started. They hate us for that. Bush Jr. know this. He's now trying to "finish" the mission.

Laws are for civilized people. War is uncivilized therefore no law can apply. The closest you can get is the Geneva Convention pertaining to the rights and handling of prisoners of war.

this would just be another constaint on the countries that follow the rules...like america...the rest of the world wouldnt abide by it...so that makes america a loser automatically...make a law that says america can and should do whatever it takes to thwart any country plotting against us...anyway we choose and anywhere we choose...then you might have a law....

Great. And just how do you enforce this?

What if one side obeys the time limit and the other does not? What do you do about it?
