I have been given an article and have been told to analyse the approach I am a bit confused as to the difference between research method and approach. Any help would be appreciated.

The method used in dealing with or accomplishing: a logical approach to the problem.

A method used in dealing with something: attack, course, line, modus operandi, plan, procedure, tack, technique.

An article is normally aimed at a certain readership, which will be concerned with certain aspects of the law. It is important to have some idea of this readership, which could be a very wide one or a comparatively narrow one, in order to understand the way in which the writer has narrowed down and used the material to support his arguments.
