It probably is a feather duster! There are some that look like the larger Hawaiians, and some others that are "stacked", usually called "Christmas Tree Worms". I've got three of the "regular" red-orange ones in my tank.
See photos below for some examples of smaller ones that are reddish:

It won't be a problem - or need any special care.

most of the time when your live rock is growing anything its good its a sign that your tank is matureing and the water quality is decent. its probably a small feather duster as your live rock ages you might see alot more stuff grow off of it so it sounds like your on the right path just keep up what your doing.

its a good thing, live rock carries all kinds of micro organisms that will emerge over time. i have even found tiny starfish on live rock after its been in my tank for a couple months. main thing to keep an eye out on live rock is mantis shrimp since they are about the worst unwanted pest you get on live rock. sounds like you might have gotten a free feather duster with your live rock.

I agree with Copper head here. Nothing to worry about.

You would be suprised at what will grow on and comes in live rock. Most of it is not harmful to your tank. (This is one of the reasons using live rock to actually try to cycle your tank isn't always a good idea.) Give it time and see how many more things will grow on or come from your rock.

Cool!

Live rock is probably the best thing to have in your tank.

It sounds like you have an anemone growing on the rock, which means your tank must really be healthy because they can be finicky. Just leave it alone because it actually takes a lot of crap out of the water.

Keep doing what you're doing because it appears to work.

Good luck.

yes, those are good....they help filter the feces out of the water...they are kinda neat...they go out and in sporadically...over time you will also get barnacles and worm like things....all are natural in the ocean there for good for your tank...
