You should IMMEDIATELY take him to the doctor, or to an emergency room.

Most doctors require a return visit within just a couple or days after surgery.

Swelling is very common post op for several weeks after many surgeries. Try using ice and elevating his leg. You can also check with your doctor or pharmacist and see if his pain medication has antiinflammatory properties and if not, check if you can also give him ibuprofen. check and see what the proper dosage based on his weight is.

You need to call your doctor right away. If his office is closed the answering service should have an emergency number. If not, you need to take him to the ER. Take his temperature, too, your doctor may ask if he has a fever.

Call your doctor NOW or take your son to the local Urgent Care, or your local Emergency Room.
