Hmmm, here are a few people that come to mind:
Theodore Geisel (Dr. Seuss)
Charles Schulz (Peanuts comic strip artist)
Cleopatra
Jack the Ripper
Mary, Queen of Scots

How about Temple Grandin? She's a person with high-functioning autism who is a world authority on the disorder. She's phenomenal: she revolutionized the handling of cattle and the whole industry has adopted her methods. She's written articles and books on how people with autism think in pictures, not words. She also lectures extensively, and has been on Oprah, etc. Very unique and very interesting. Mulitdimensional. She's incredibly articulate. She has her own website so you can easily check her out.

Tennessee Williams is my all-time favorite.
He had such an interesting life, with phenomenal plays, and he affected society today so much, even though we don't know it.
He made it okay for people to talk about dark issues.
He made people feel it was alright to display their love, their desire, and their sexuality.
My absolute favorite. Tennessee Williams.
