My daughter is 4 and she will be taking Ballet and Jazz. Where can i buy the necessary ballet clothes for her? I tried Walmart and Target, but they do not seem to have what i need for her.

I do not want to spend a fortune either, an online store would be good too. Also what's is the difference between a ballet shoe, a ballet slipper, and a jazz shoe. Is there one that she can use for both dance styles?

Thanks You!

A very good place to get dancewear is www.discountdance.com .they are pretty cheap, and they ship quickly to your house. First of all, a ballet shoe and a ballet slipper can be the same thing or a different thing, depending on what you mean. A ballet shoe can be a pointe shoe ( which is not recommended for four year olds. People usually go on pointe shoes when they have at least three years of ballet experience and when they are about twelve years old) or a flat shoe. A flat shoe is the kind that has a full or split sole. A ballet slipper is usually not for dancing. They're flimsy and they are made of thin material. A jazz shoe usually has a split shoe and a small heel, and can sometimes be a dance sneaker, depending on the teacher. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as an interchangeable dance shoe.

I would recommend www.discountdance.com, www.justforkix.com, and www.allaboutdance.com. I also agree with the comment about buying good shoes if your daughter is going to be continuing with her dancing. You will end up spending less money in the long run because they will last longer. For ballet slippers, I recommend the canvas ones. They hold up well, and they breathe better. for jazz shoes I recommend the kind that slip on rather than the kind that tie. That way she won't have to worry about her shoes coming untied.

Try http://store.danskin.com/girls.html for girl's dancewear. Yes, there is a difference between ballet and jazz shoes, they should not be worn interchangibly. You may as well buy "good" ballet and jazz shoes, because the cheaper ones wear out too fast. You may also try JC Penney. Good Luck!!
