I have no snide comments for you nor do I have phantom fears of demons to warn you of. I do have some sound advice, however.
There are several probabilities (not possibilities) that may answer your question. Your friend may be able to channel on a subtle level, one not recognized by himself or herself, and the communication is being displayed through the Ouija medium. You, however, cannot do so, and this is why you cannot get the Ouija board to work. Another probability is that your friend has an entity (or entities) in his or her home. The Ouija tends to work best when spirits are around. Keep that in mind. There is also the probability that the Ouija board is working as a therapist to express unrecognized conscious thoughts, the thoughts of you and your friends, allowing all of you to communicate with each other on this level. The last probability is that one of your friends is playing around with it for kicks, to get you and others to believe that there is a ghost around when there is not.
Now, you can do a few things to check the validity of your Ouija seances. Stick a playing card in an envelope. Do it so anyone can see except those who are using the Ouija board. Divine what’s in the envelope through the Ouija. If it can do this, the last two are impossible. If it can’t, then the last two are more than possible--they are highly probable.

The spirits in your home are keeping strange hours. Post a sign next to the board explaining the hours of operation, eg. Ouija open 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm M-F, open some weekends, inquire with management.
That ought to help.

Because your friends are more psychologically suggestible is the likely answer. Or if you actually believe in them, you might say that your friend is more in tune w. the spirit world. Either way, there are a lot of games that are a lot more fun to play.

Did you check the batteries? Ha, just kidding.
It is a purely subconcious action that should work anywhere.
It isn't real, though may seem that way.

When I was a little girl I had the same thing happen. I believe it has to do with the natural energy that surrounds or inhabits the house.
