At funerals people have more permission to express emotion than in their ordinary lives and I can see how you could get hooked on the temporary feeling of closeness that can bring. Maybe it makes her feel more alive and fulfilled. I think you may have a point but I'm not sure what you can do. Maybe its easier for her to cry other people's tears but she really has some of her own to cry. Try showing more affection and warmth (nonsexual) it can't hurt. Also tell her watch reruns of Six Feet Under! Watch it with her.
Another idea, if she really has an affinity for funerals, maybe it would make a good career for her. Why not? I'll bet there is good money in it.

I don't think it's necessarily odd. Maybe she just feels guilty for not spending more time getting to know the person while they were alive. If it's a relative in another state, maybe she feels bad about not calling or writing more often or for not visiting them. If it's a neighbor, maybe she feels bad for not getting to know a person who has lived near her for quite some time. She may just feel bad for not keeping in touch with people, and feels she can rectify the situation in her heart and mind by paying last respects. People deal with death differently, and differently depending on the person who has died. Why not ask her why she wants to go to the funerals. If she gets defensive, she probably is just feeling guilty.

It does sound a little odd. Why would anyone really want to go to a funeral unless it was one that they had to go to? Maybe your wife just wants to pay her respects. If she wants to go then why not let her go by herself? I hate funerals. The last one that I went to was my mother's and I wish that it was one that I didn't have to go to.

If she wants to go to funerals then let her do so... She just may have a big heart and want to show the family that she cares. To each their own.

Ewwww. funerals are no fun. She is probably just a very respectful person who wishes to pay her respects to those that she knew?

geez, how many funerals are there around you? We haven't had many funerals around here lately.
I would say it's kinda odd.
How many funerals are we talking about per year, month or whatever?

SHE WANTS TO GO BECAUSE SHE HAS RESPECT AND HAS A GOOD HEART AND U ARE THE WEIRD ONE AND HEARTLESS ONE NOT TO WANT TO GO AND SHOW YOUR RESPECTS TO A PERSON WHO WENT TO BE WITH THE LORD! U NEED TO GO AND NOT ACT LIKE THAT AND HUG AND APPRECIATE HOW SWEET OF A CARING WIFE YOU GOT! AMEN AND GOD BLESS YOU AND U BETTER HOPE NO ONE HAS THOSE KINDA FEELINGS TOWARD U WHEN U DIE AND GO BE WITH THE GOOD LORD! I KNOW U WOULD WANT A LOT OF PEOPLE TO PAY RESPECTS TO U THEN U BEST LET HER PAY HER RESPECTS TO THOSE THAT DEPARTED. AMEN! GOD BLESS U!

She goes for the same reason many people (myself included) crash weddings.
For the free food and open bar.

she's an addict, you really need to curb her appetite for funerals... maybe only allow her on a week/month...
