I am taking (college) General Chemistry One (which i find challenging) and will take General Chem Two next semester. I was wondering if it is harder. some ppl say its easier.

I plan on taking General Biology with General Chem 2, (with spanish 1 too). Is that going to be impossible?? Anybody take General Chem 2 and Biology at the same time?

just to let you know i am a spanish speaker in case some ppl think that the spanish class will make it harder....

If you like math, general chemistry 2 will not be too much of a problem. it is a bit more difficult that chem 1. General biology is not a big deal. if you are already a spanish speaker, those classes together should be ok, but expect to work on the chemistry. if you have more than one teacher for chem 2 at your school, try to figure out which is the better teacher, because you will want a good teacher. i have taken lots of chemistry and biology, and spanish. you will be ok, unless you hate math.... then you might want to reconsider the chemistry.

Not at all. Once you get the basic concepts of chemistry (1) the next classes are easier. To me it was harder chem 1 than chem 2. Organics is a different story. And taking chemistry and biology at the same it should no be a problem. I will recomend you to get ready for it because there are times in which you have to take 5 or 6 Science curses at the same time. Good like.

General Chem 1 is the traditional requirement of Chem 2. Both courses usually consist of a Lab and a Lecture.
Chem 1 usually concentrates on General Principles (1 stoichiometry, valence, leaning the Symbols represented on the the Periodic Table of Elements, balancing chemical equations, the Gas Laws: Boyle's Law, Charles Law, Ideal Gas Law, Moles, Avogadro's Number, gram and volumn conversation in the Metric System.
Chem 2 usually concentrates on Atomic configuration--specifics of how the S,D, P, & F electronic orbitals fill with electrons, Oxidation/Reductions Equations, Ph, and the equations which determine the pkA of an acide opposed to a base. And what the perameters are which constitute a Lewis Acid and a Lewis Base.
I studied Cell Biology while symultaneously taking General Chemistry 1 & 2 in college. I maintained a B average while holding down a full time job as a psychiatric assistant in Hawaii. But I can tell you, I wouldn't want to do it again. It's hard enough to manage in English.
