What is there to do near Roswell, New Mexico?

Any suggestions for entertainment, food, and sight seeing?

3.) near Portales is the BlackWater Draw Museum..lots of interesting exhibits on paleo-indians and mammoths. link: http://www.enmu.edu/academics/excellence/museums/blackwater-draw/index.shtml

4.) Besides the Alien Museum (which I personally have not and will not visit) there is the the Roswell Museum and Art Center..it is an AWESOME museum. There is also a very good planetarium associated with it. Here is the link: http://www.roswellmuseum.org/index.html

5.) West of Roswell (about an hour or so away) is Ruidoso which has the race track, the mountains, lots of little touristy shops, and the Inn of the Mountain Gods.

Other than that the town has tons of excellent restaurants but the night life is still pretty sleepy due it being a retirement town.

You can visit the UFO site or else drive up to Portales and visit the peanut factory
