Ever had your face get "stuck like that" while making rude faces at other kids?
Ever really deprive a starving kid by not eating all of the peas on your plate?
Is it safe to say that mothers don't know what the heck they are talking about??

I don't tell my kids the old wives tales - they are as goofy to me now as they were when I was little. That's right - my kids swim in our pool the minute they finish their food - no one has drowned yet!!! When they are making silly faces I either join them or tell them to cut it out because it's annoying - and here's the big one - I NEVER make my kids finish every drop of food on their plate (what? *gasp* but that is so wasteful)

Well as a mother, I can now appreciate those sayings, because sometimes when in public you can't say what you really want to say so you become creative.... other wise we would all be shouting
" Hey dumb ***, I told you not to go in the water right after you ater, but you didn't believe me... now you want me to go in after you?"
"Stop making that face... it's ugly, and I do not want people to think my child is supposed to ride the little bus!"
And Finally,
"Eat the Damn Peas......Because I Had To!"

wrap it in a strip of bacon, that will cure it.
if you don't rinse the potato masher you'll marry a drunk.

you are correct they just repeat what their mums said...
I on the other hand being a mum now just make things up to say like many a wino would be glad of that......

try being one and see what happens. Moms say those things for reasons.
