A few days after taking my car to Jiffy Lube, white smoke started coming out of the tailpipe upon startup.

A few days after that, the engine started making a grinding like sound when I pushed the gas, getting louder as I accelerated.

I took the car to the dealership and they called to tell me there was no oil in the car and they couldn't find a leak or anything. They assumed Jiffy Lube didn't put the oil back in it after draining.

I went to the Jiffy Lube and they pulled the video tape of them working on the car. The manager himself is seen in the video adding oil and then checking it to make sure it was full of oil.

The car is a 2002 Ford Explorer, 6 cyl. Any insight into this issue would be MORE than helpful.

THANKS!

The car is mine - plate on the front is mine and the date on the video is correct.

Noone would have done this as a joke to me.

No warning lights and I didn't check the oil because I didn't think I needed to a week after going to Jiffy Lube. I've NEVER put oil in this car because it has never needed it - I'm the original owner and it has 130,000 on it.

I once owned a repair shop next door to a Jiffy Lube. The reason they take a tape of what they are doing on your car is that they have destroyed so many engines it cannot be calculated. I personally repaired more than a few of their mistakes.
Is your car high mileage? Did it consume oil before it went to Jiffy Lube? Was there any sign of leakage when you parked the car? Did they install the proper grade of oil? Is there any proof they put a full five quarts in the car except for the manager checking the dip stick? You have a serious small claims case here, but you will probably need the Intervention of the Bureau of Auto repair(California Only).

did your low oil or low oil peruse light come on, or the check or service engine soon light come on? In the video is that your car that they were pouring the oil into?, Either that or they forgot to the oil pan bolt in or they never put a new oil filter on.

I had a bad experience with jiffy lube, they got oil all over the front of the car. That's usually why you do it or any of your Friend's that know how to do it. Or take to a local repair shop.

The only thing that you and anyone else can learn from this is, don't go to jiffy lube. Unless you want a bad day.

Maybe he didn't plug it back up and was seen pouring the oil straight through the engine?

Sorry about this. I have a fear of Jiffy Lube's.

Are you sure this is your vehicle in the video? This is a common problem that Jiffy Lube has had.

the car sounds like it had a intake or head gasket leak. You could go to the tail pipe and look to see if oil is apparent on the inside of the tailpipe.or pull the dip stick and see if a tan foam is on it or open the radiator cap to see if the same is present

I have to ask, were there any warning lights on the dash? did you check the oil when you noticed the first signs?
Maybe someone drained it overnight as a joke
