My hamster has gone missing for a week before, you just have to outsmart them. First you need to try to figure out which room the hamster is hiding in. I would start with the same level that the hamsters cage is in, but be aware that hamsters will climb down stairs if they are escaped. To figure out which room the hamster is in, put some of the hamsters favourite treats all around one room and CLOSE THE DOOR. Leave it in for the day and/or over night just in the one room. REMEMBER, if you do not close the door, the hamster will just change room. Also, if you have a crack under your door, put a towel there so the hamster cannot squeeze out. Start with your daughters room if that is where the cage was. Every couple of hours (or in the morning if your doing over night) check the food. If it is gone or has some missing, than you know atleast which general area the hamster is in. Once you find the room, Start with closets and other dark places (e.i under the bed) Also, check all dresser and desk drawers!! My friend once gave up after 1 week and her mom screamed because when she was getting changed she found the hamster in the drawer asleep.Next, you need to clear out any small things out of the room, being extremely careful and checking any clothes. Also, if you find any droppings or chewed walls then thats a hint of the general area. You just need to go room to room eliminating every place as you go.

Sorry I couldn't give you a quicker answer, but just make sure to keep water in EVERY room and a bit of food and the hamster will survive as long as you watch were you step.

this is what I would do, done this trick before and I ended up finding my hammy in just a matter of a day
most hamsters love dog biscuits what you need to do is tie a very long thing thread to the biscuit and make sure its on good, leave it on the floor in the room that the hamster stayed in most likely he will return and take the cookie with him once you see the cookie gone just look for the thread and there you will fine your hammy. Please let me know what happens by e-mailing me at alwaysmoody7@yahoo.com I like to know if the old trick still works as I have not had a missing hammy for a while.
good luck hope this works for you

My hamster goes missing all the time; they're known to be great escape artists. I usually found her under the fridge or in a small, low space refusing to come out. The more I coaxed, the more she backed off. Make sure all the doors leading out of the house are closed, as well as all the windows without screens. Leave his/her cage door wide open, right where it usually is. Hamsters will usually get hungry and homesick and find their way home. With my hamster, I found her sleeping in her cage 2 days later when I woke up one morning. Maybe put some treats in the cage. In the meantime, invest in a good, sturdy cage with a firm door that it can't push open.

Hamster can flatten in an amazing fashion. Get a flashlight and check under the fridge, and also remove your oven's bottom drawer if it has one, and check under the stove. Both places are warm and toasty. Don't just start pulling appliances out, but check carefully first. Also, try leaving doors open so that if the little fuzzball is hiding out, he or she can move from room to room easily and not accidently get trapped in a closet and die from dehydration. That's another thing folks forget.. water. They will need water long before they need food, so set the cage out with the water bottle easily accessible and you may just catch him. I wish you much good luck on this one..

Hamsters are great escape artists. They know every escape trick in the book!! He could be anywhere. My hamster once opened his cage, went down the vent, and the next morning we found him in the furnace. But he was alive, he was scratching the walls of the furnace. He had a cut on his nose and was as black as a chimney sweeper. But he was fine. As soon as I put him in the cage he started eating. Lol. He might be dead, or he might be well hidden. If he's in the pipes...don't even try to get him out. You'll just ruin your house and the pipes will need fixing. He might have found a way to get outside and is now free. Hey, you can always get a new one for $6.00

humm i would do what everyone is saying to do....im guessing u have a part wire cage? Yes? when you find him i would get a glass cage for him. (with a wire top so he cant get out the top)

It doesnt matter if u close the door or not (in the room he's hiding) because they can squeeze under it.

Also im guessing it was a dwarf hamster? the master of all escape artists? yes? Lol. Just keep searching. Leave the cage open so if he comes back he can just crawl in.

Good luck and i will pray for ur hammie. whats its name? jw.

Kay.

Once I had a gerbil upstairs somewhere for over a week. One night we heard him scratching in a sofa, so the cat went behind the sofa and flushed him out. I caught him when he came out the front. I had been putting little bits of food out, and they were disappearing. You need to do a very methodical search with at least 2 people - one to dig around behind and under the furniture, and one to stand by the doorway and watch for signs of escaping. Try to keep the doors shut while searching, and try tiptoeing around at night and listening for scratching, chewing, and scampering to figure out where the critter is. If there is food out, you can hear things like sunflower seeds being cracked and chewed. All our escapees were eventually caught, including one that ended up in the furnace ductwork. Good luck.

I'm afraid to say most hamster missing for more than one day don't get found. They best you can do is put some food out, if you find that some of the food has gone, it's either alive or you have rats.

In our hamster days, the escaped critters usually went to the lowest part of the house. We always found them in the basement.

You should find it everywhere or replace it with a hamster that looks just like it and return it if you find it and it has to be the exact same thing and not differt.
