Have you tried using those rotary type cutters? The kind that are round and you roll? I use one whenever possible - they are popular for quilting. They make very straight lines. You need a mat too.

Very sharp scizzors. not those cheap easy ones you get just anywhere, real dressmaking shears that hold an edge. And NEVER cut anything but fabric with them, not paper, and never hair. Then use pinking shears to give a finished edge.

instead of pinning pattern to fabric and then back up into the paper pattern, use a double sided low tack scrapbook tape and tape the pattern to the fabric then use a rotary cutter and a mat.

Hang a large piece of cardbaord to the wall. I mean like a refrigerator box. Then use map pins to pin fabric edges to the board, then map pins to pin pattern to the fabric. then cut with very sharp scizzors, although the cut pattern pieces will fall out as cut out, I did try this with a slk top once.

Pin the pattern and the fabric to interfacing or muslin, then cut with good scizzors that have never been used for other crafts. When you pin, always pin lengthwise in the seam allowance and use a lot of pins so nothing can shift. But be careful not to disort the fabric with your pins.
