and your main reason why u think that

after 2 hours, evolution has 7 votes, god 3, and there's 6 who say both. To answer ur query "IQ", i never stated there couldn't be both ideas co-existing. i knew this question would get alot of response and has always been a very interesting subject. where some religions shun people for even questioning there creator, i see nothing wrong with asking why, or how. raised roman catholic, i sometimes feel i was taught fear based religion. sometimes karma makes more sense to me. i just enjoy hearing peoples views. i find intelligent thought out answers very interesting, and i do respect everyones individual opinion. truth of the matter is, no one knows for sure.

I, in return, have a question for you: WHY do you think these are mutually exclusive???

One one hand we have the view expounded in the bible and other religious texts, that God created the world and everything in it.

On another we have an overwhelming amount of undeniably legitimate scientific evidence that the evolution of humans took place, and that evolution still takes place in species whose habitats are threatened, forcing them to genetically adapt to survive. Experiments have been done that demonstrate this NOW, in the present day, right before our eyes.

If we view the story of creation in the bible as an analogy, meant to convey that God created the universe and everything in it, and also to convey that all of creation is good, it is VERY easy to see how the two views can co-exist: God caused the physical creative processes that resulted in the slow development of the universe, and thereby created the circumstances that would eventually result in the evolution of human beings. The story of Adam and Eve is an allegory meant to convey that humans have some natural evil in them, and to illustrate the need for humans to reconcile themselves with God.

I will NEVER understand why people insist on fighting with each other over this when it's so obviously possible for both views to be true at the same time! All that need happen is for the creationists to be willing to recognize that the seven day creation is a metaphor, not to be taken literally, and then suddenly all of the scientific evidence for evolution will be perfectly consistent with the creationist view.

(For the record, I do not subscribe to this compound view, but it is beyond my comprehension why any theist wouldn't. I question whether God created the world because I question His existence, but if He exists, I am certain that this is how He created us. There can be NO denying the scientific evidence for evolution without first becoming married to ignorance.)

I assume you mean a young earth theory where the dinosaurs were wiped out in the flood of Noah about 4000 years ago versus the fact that the earth is billions of years old and that all living organisms evolve. The problem with creationism is that it is not really an argument at all. "Because the Bible says so" is not an effective nor even a valid argument. Science, for all of it's flaws at least leaves open the possibility of being wrong and accepts other opinions based on reason and having met certain criteria. The Bible can be used to indict a ham sandwich.

Most fossil intermediates in vertebrate evolution have indeed been found. A clear line of fossils now traces the transition between whales and hoofed mammals, between reptiles and mammals, between dinosaurs and birds, between apes and humans. The fossil evidence of evolution between major forms is compelling.

Darwin's theory of evolution has proven controversial among the general public, although the commonly raised objections are without scientific merit.

evolution-yes, very likely true. solid scientific theory. however, not as certain as a conceptual truth or other self-evident empiral truths. but still empircally very likely

god-no knockdown argument for or against. occams razor dictates we put god in abeyance as it certainly unnecessarily complicates an ontology to have omnipotent omniscient omnipresent omnibenevelont entities running around in it. lack of empirical evidence for gods existence dictates we say it's an empircally unlikely theory

in principle both can be true. but I think the former is likely true and the latter is likely not true, or at the least is something we should put in abeyance.

read "the god dilusion" by richard dawkins . no gods , its a shallow weak arguement with absolutely no proof ! books aren't proof by the way , i could write one too . science will prevail in the future when man becomes more intelligent . some day those in the future will lk back & laugh their heads off looking back at mans stupidity . we'll have a far better world since nothing has ever caused more death & torture than religions , look at the awr wre i right now, religious nuts again , like those evangelicals ! tp. mullin

i am not a very crafty word smith,so i cant present a good argument, and a good one would take to long, but i can give you a summery of the first cause argument.if everything evolved out of something,by accident, what created the first accident.this is a very shabby argument presented by me ,so don't tack it at face value.

[god and EV can be together.god creating the earth in 7 days is a allegory for the first 10billion or so years of the universe.
god made the univers produce life through his evolution.
he was simply obeying the science he created]

Evolution rubs me the wrong way. I mean the theory of "Man being descendent from the Ape" is vague. Now, the Bible has different types of man. (IE Jacob was smooth skinned, soft. But Esau was Hairy, possibly, "Ape hairy.") And to me, according to the Evolution chart, there would have been an inbetween period. A mankey. And I've never heard of any archaelogical ruins or records of any sort, only paintings in "Caves" Which in case, you can point to Adam. "Adam had many sons and daughters" meaning he wasn't the ONLY one to reproduce...(That should taken in consideration.)

What the F**K does it matter?

no matter how much people argue this point NO ONE WILL KNOW!!!!!

the only thing that can prove who is wrong and who is right is if something HUGE occurred....

.....like Armageddon.....or another species evolved to our status

so why argue?

I say just live a good life and and treat others well because its makes life easier!!! THE END!

Evolution, becasue its not magic, and has a lot of facts behinde it, while god, has a book written a long time a go, by a bunch of crazy people, who didnt know about evolution.

Both. God made Man and Man has evolved. Science and Religion can often be complimentary instead of contradictory.
