If you're concerned about price ... I would recommend Lenovo or Toshiba. If you're not concerned about price I would recommend IBM the rankings of computers best quality to worst quality is:
IBM
Lenovo
Toshiba
Compaq
HP
Sony Vaio
Gateway
Dell
I would definitely say to NEVER (not even if you're desperate) purchase a DELL it is by far the WORST computer on the market ... I also wouldn't recommend HP or Sony Vaio ... any of the others are at least decent computers

I can only go from my personal experience. I have been using a Dell Latitude laptop at work for 3+ years now and have never had a problem.
At home, I have had a Dell (monitor died, hard drive crashed), a Gateway (issue with hard drive), and now, an HP. The HP has been perfect...but the HP all-in-one I ordered did not work out of the box (lends to the "quality" of HP although they are different devices).

I have had a Dell, HP and a Compaq. I've never had a Toshiba so I can't comment on that one. The best results for me were from the Dell. I think it is the best laptop I've had.

HI there buddy...i would suggest that you go ahead with dell Because i work with dell i know the standard's that they maintain...be it dimension, latitude note books or dell XPS which is a high end gaming machine...and as u must be knowing dell manufactures computers according to the customer i,e your needs and necessities. What i would suggest is that u go ahead with a dell XPS 1210, XPS 1710 OR a DELL 2010 these are absolutely perfect gaming devices not only gaming they are a perfect home machine is what i can say and now that i also own a dell 1710...and i also work for the company "DELL" as its the best in the Market.

I like HP laptops, mainly because I used to fix them when I worked at HP and I appreciate the quality control they go through before they are shipped. Dell laptops recently had a recall because of batteries exploding--which is not an issue any more, but it shows you how cheap their products are.
I would suggest buying a generic laptop though, it is ussually easier to find replacement parts for them. I have an ibuypower.com laptop and love it.

All of them use the same basic high quality parts to build thier laptops. It comes down to customer service, and since they all souce out for this, they all fall into the equal category. Anyone of them would be a good choice. If your still confused go with brand loyalty. Whatever one you like best, you cant go wrong.

I would recommend a Toshiba notebook. They have high quality computers. I have a Toshiba Satellite M65-S9092, and I really like it. Mine has Windows XP, but the new ones have Windows Vista. I'm not sure if you can get one with Windows XP now. I think my computer can handle Windows Vista Ultimate, but I'm not going to upgrade anytime soon.

First decide what options you want on your laptop, than go looking at who has the best price. Compare apples to apples, dont look at one that has an AMD and try to compare it to one with an Intel chip.
basicly the internals are all the same. what you are buying from these manufacturers is the assembly and a warranty. So shop for the best warranty and price.
