A. Multiply both sides by x-2 to cancel the denominator on the left side to get:
3x+1= 7(x-2)

B. Clear the parenthesis on the right by distributing the 7 to get:

3x+1= 7x-14

C. Add 14 both sides:

3x+15=7x

D. Subtract 3x both sides:

15=4x

E. Divide by 4 both sides:

15/4=x
