I need to find the area of a trianlge but i dont know what the base of the triangle is. The length is 26 on both sides and the depth is 30. I know i have to use the formula : A=BH/2....how do i find the area without knowing the base?

ok so im assuming that by depth you mean height, do all you have to do is split the one triangle into two identical ones where one side is 26 and one is 30 on each of the two triangles, then all you have to do is solve for the third side by using the pythagorean theorem, a^2 + b^2= c^2 where c is the longest side (hypotnuse), then once you find the 3rd side of one of the triangles you created then just double it since the two triangles are identical, then you have the base of the original triangle and can now find the area, there may be an easier way, but thats how i would do it

if the length is 26 on 2 of the sides you have an 'isosoles' triangle. turn the triangle into 2 triangles by cutting it stright in two then you'll have 2 right angles triangles which you can you pythagoras to work out the base of one, you will then know how much the whole base is by x2

Thgere is no such dimension as depthe when talking about a triangle...maybe height? If so the above formula is correct but your answer will not be a whole number...about 14.9666...very doubtful. I would pay more attention when descriptions are given...or take better notes.

you can probably find the base... maybe it's equilateral and all the sides are 26
