I want badly to pursue a career in science. I am in high school in a small town where there are virtually no science opportunities. I am very interested in many summer programs, but they are all out of my price range. I am very excited and passionate about learning and I truely believe that in America, I CAN succeed. If you have any ideas or you know of any programs with excellent financial aid, or even if you can simply offer some encouragement or kind words, it would be greatly appreciated. Again, I am willing to work hard for an opportunity, I just need a chance. Thank you.

First of all believe in yourself and have high self-seteem . Don't fall for every Tom, Dick and Harry who will sweet talk you and lead you astray . Keep your nose in a book and to the grindstone to get the best marks possible .
If you have any stamina left, and trust me it is not easy, then get a part time job and save as much money as you can .Talk to a counselor in school who can direct you to some financial help . I have done all that myself. I was worse off than you since I came from a ravaged Europe in 1948 with nothing on my feet but shoes and not much else to wear . I did have good friends and folks who liked me a lot . That makes a differrence . Maybe you are lucky and have loving parents. You can and will do all you dream about if you are disciplined and sincere .
After a half a century now I am very happy with my lot. I had a terrific career in science , published many scientific papers and sit on my parkbench in my old age and pray God bless America. There is no place like this on earth where you can be successful when you pull yourself up by your bootstraps .
You can do this. Aim high .
P.S. oh yes, and don't get married it will make it harder .LOL

Try interning. That doesn't cost any money. Some internships even pay you. It's all about what you want and how to obtain them. You can even ask for sponsorships or donations to attend one of the many summer camps that you find interesting. Donating money is tax deductible for businesses. Don't be embarrassed or shy that you do not have the money to attend a summer program, there are lots of people who own businesses who are more than happy to help. It's all a matter of determination.

If you want it bad, go get it. The income of your family should drive you to achieve higher, not hold you back.

I can only advise you to keep getting good grades in high school, and to study on your own if your local science classes aren't that good. If you are young enough and have enough time, study on your own and take an AP class or two for college credit. If you have a good enough GPA and apply yourself, you will most likely be able to find financial assistance. Be prepared though that you will most likely have to move to where the action is once you are of age to do so. It's a tough choice, but one that you will most likely have to make.

This is America. It doesn't matter how educated you are when it comes to your income. That was true once, but it no longer is the case.

Due to companies running the government now, most physical labor is done offshore and any profession that requires a degree is rapidly being saturated with immigrants.

Sorry, but it's the truth.

Write to local colleges about programs for the summer. They may have companies that are looking for interns. Good luck and keep trying!

1. There is something people in your town always get in their cars and go to the big city to get.

2. If you can bring it into your town in quantity, and sell it there, people will buy it there.

Seen it in my old hometown.
