Take it slowly and take up some form of exercise. Stick pictures of people of the size you would like to slim down to around the kitchen for inspiration. Eat healthy snacks and reward yourself for achieving your goals.

I believe that the best way you can stay motivated is to not feel or be put under pressure from the negatives.
If you can't find motivation at the moment, you may be putting yourself under stress by thinking about the outcome if it doesn't go the way you wanted it to go. So instead of doing that think about all the positive things that 'will' happen if you go along with losing 10 lbs.
Like for example; you'll feel brighter and more confident, your physical appearence will alter, your organs can be healthier depending on chosen diet, and if you have completed losing weight it is a foot forward to the hundreds of other challenges you know you can achieve.
Well they are the positive outcomes, but you are going through the rough finishing parts, so you need that extra boost to move you along.
Here are some tips that I use to motivate myself in most situations.
No1 if you are having a change in routine, make sure you do it gradually, so you're not jumping head first into deep waters.
No2 Make sure your new routine is fun and varied as possible - like for example; making up a meal that you fancy but is healthy.
No3 Cut out caffeine and cut 'down' on modified sugars. this not only helps weight, but headaches and sleep as well.
No3 Get someone else to encourage you
No4 write down a list of pros and cons for losing 10 lbs
No5 occasionally treat yourself to something naughty but not regularly
No6 Do exercise at night time so your body feels sleepy, and your body can repare better at these times.
The best site I can recommend is Ivillage (I can't say whole address), there is plenty of info there.

I'm in the same boat.... Trying to lose 10 - 15 lbs.

Best option I've come across.... Make small changes in life style. Find a workout that is fun or teaches you a skill (makes the working out less of a chore), but workouts should still target your core. AND don't get discouraged because the pounds don't quickly melt away. After all, we didn't put them on overnight, why should they come off that fast?

Try chanting the Maha Mantra it helps one overcome all addictions. We have so many addictions in this world including food. But chanting this mantra which delivers one from the bodily conception of life and brings one to their constitutional position as spirit soul beyond the body. For more information go to harekrishnatemple.c Read Bhagavad Gita as it is By Bhaktivedanta Prabhupad- It will motivate everyone in the proper direction of life.

You are now talking with a woman who has lost 140 pounds over the last 14 months. In the process, I have totally transformed myself from the inside out.
10 pounds means you're that much closer to your goal.
Honey, just do it. You know you can.
I offered myself a system of rewards: ride exercise bike for 30 min, spend 30 min on computer.
Good luck.

Go to the body for life website. They are great!!!! 10lbs is a piece of cake - no pun intended. their nutrition is common sense and the workout programs are good too. The before and after pics are great motivators i find, and I can tell you from personal experience this works.

I guarantee you that you will lose regardless of wherever you are at. And none of it will be muscle loss either

You don’t need to exercise for long periods of time. Short, sharp sets of exercise will produce better results should you work hard. Get a skipping rope, skip for two moments, do push ups for 1 minute, skip for two minutes, rest for just one minute. Then change the push as much as something else like sit ups and also do the set again. Repeat it five times and it’s a quick, effective workout that will get better results than a long work or swim.

Keep a food diary. Seeing every morsel of food you’ve eaten in a day written down can assist you to see where you’re overdoing the item, or reveal patterns or triggers to bad eating habits.

Music enables you to eat more. According to a work by the journal Psychology and also Marketing, soft, classical tunes encourage one to take time over your meal, so you consume more meals. So, switch off – silence is likely to make you more aware of what you’re investing in your mouth.
