When I look up something in my search engine I get the usual list of items that identify with my search. Then I click on the one that I like the most, and it takes me to a site that doesn't even apply to what I'm looking for. This happens every time all of sudden now. Do I have a virus, and if so, is there a cheap way to get rid of it??? Thanks... all answers appreciated!

Sounds like your Browser got hijacked. Get some good anti-adware/spyware software and do a scan of your computer. If you use P2P software like Morpheus or Limewire they also tend to install things that mess with your browser like MySearch. If you find anything like that just go to control panel and uninstall it. Or uninstall the P2P software.

When the site you pick doesn't work for you, generally you can just hit the 'back arrow' on the upper left of your screen. If this doesn't work, you may need to shut the page off entirely & then re-open your browser. I STRONGLY suugest you run anti-virus every week or so. If you use a good one regularly it will save you tons of grief. Sadly most free anti-virus programs are worth exactly what you pay for them. You may want to consider using a different search engine. I like to use Metacrawler.
