You can be an author at any age and be brilliant at it. I think the late Mattie Stepanek proved that. C.

Well, as far as published authors, I think the youngest is, probably 10 now, they wrote a book about their experience with cancer when they were 7. Don't remember a name.

Fiction author, my guess? At least 20. Christopher Paolini, the hack that wrote Eragon, was 15 or so when his mom published it, because she owns a publishing company, but he would not have been published otherwise.

I myself will likely be published in the next two years, that's wishful thinking, but at the end of two years I will be 22, so yeah, I'd be pretty young.
