98 Vikings were one of the best teams in history. They did choke in the conference championship, but they scored the most points in football history and went 15-1 with their only loss coming to Tampa in Tampa with Chris Carter making a catch just out of bounds when time ran out in the endzone to win the game. The only team that really could have derailed that team was the coaching staff. They thought they had the conference championship wrapped up at half and forgot the game is 2 halves and you have to stay aggressive no matter what the score is and who you are playing.

Well, their 1998 team was very good. They scored the N.F.L record for points and went 15-1. However they will not be as well remembered since they failed to get to the Super Bowl.
I would say that their best team was the 1969 team, their first to make it to the Super Bowl. The purple people eaters (Page, Eller, Krause) were in their prime and played as good that year as any unit ever. Joe Kapp was servicable that year at quarterback and threw SEVEN touchdowns against Baltimore in one game.
They came up short against Kansas City but I would say that was the best vikings team of all time.
hippo8000, the vikings did not have culpeper on their team in 1998, Cunningham was their quarterback.
Wade is wrong too, the vikings lost to Kansas City in Super Bowl 4, not 14.

The 98 vikings were probably about as good as they'll ever get. They had a decent team and won some games, but choked in the end. Now they straight up suck. They are just barely better than the Lions.

Their best team was probably 1973. Marshall, Eller, Page, Larsen, and Tarkington were in their primes. They had the rookie of the year, Chuck Foreman. John Gilliam was second on the team in recieving. 1976 was a good year too. Tarkington and Foreman still. Rookie of the year Sammy White, and Ahmad Rashad leading the recievers.

I would say 1998 was there best year 15-1. Even though Dennis Green choked and they didn't make the super bowl.
