I suggest that you take it to the dealer and find out why before it goes off in your face while you are driving around.

As everybody has told you there is a fault in the system:
What no-one has mentionned and is most likely; the system incorporates seat belt pretensionners etc (SRS Supplemental restraining system) often if you have moved a front seat the wiring loom beneath it has become displaced.
Even if reconnected will require computer diagnostics to reset the system
Also when the warning light is on the system is deactivated and wil not operate in an accident

the air bag light flashes because there is a problem with one of the sensors or other electronic components that set your air bags off in the event of an emergency. don't worry though, if that light is on, it is impossible for them to inflate, even if there is a crash. in order to fix it, a mechanic has to do a computer diagnostic inspection and his computer will tell him where and what the problem is with the air bag system.

There is a fault with your restraint system (airbag, seatbelt pre-tensioners and associated sensors and control systems).
You local Ford dealer will have the correct equipment to connect up to the system to find out the fault code, from which they can determine the fault, and the action to repair it.

If your car is still covered by a warranty take it to a dealer for repair - most likely a faulty sensor, but still requires to be checked. If out of warranty use a reputable garage to check it out, afterall you want the assurance that the airbag will work if you really need it!

because it has a failure in the air bag system.
ANY flashing warning light indicates imminent failure. Take it to a shop and get it diagnosed

Have you still got your manual that came with the car? All the warning light definitions will be in there.

Have it checked out, there is obviously a fault in your Airbag system, probably a sensor.

The light means "you should have bought a Honda Civic, because they don't break down".
