Free Will - The power of making free choices that are unconstrained by external circumstances or by an agency such as fate or divine will.

Destiny - The inevitable or necessary fate to which a particular person or thing is destined; one's lot.
- A predetermined course of events considered as something beyond human power or control: "Marriage and hanging go by destiny" (Robert Burton).
- The power or agency thought to predetermine events: Destiny brought them together.

Some people like to think that they are guided by fate. That there is a bigger force at work creating a pattern to the universe, it's a comforting thought. Others reckon that there is no such thing as destiny, that each of us is a drop in the ocean, the ripples created by our passing having little effect on the whole.

I myself believe that everyone finds their own way through life, and at the end, when all is said and done. They find themselves.

heh. sounds a bit sentimental and hippy-ish though huh?

There is no destiny. The universe doesn't care if humans live or die. That's why some die at birth and others live to 120. We have free will because we are abe to go completely against our instinct, some more than others.

This is a great question! Humans do have free will...I do not think we are pre-destined. I believe god gives us choices and the choices we make, obviously, determines our total destiny.

I'm a psychology student and one of Behavioral Psychology to boot. So I don't belief in Free will or in destiny but in the concept that our past experiences influence are present and future actions. When experiencing a new phenomena for the first time - yes we do have free will in the sense that we can choose how exactly we are going to react or interact with this new phenomena. Once we have reacted, then we will either receive a positive or a negative response from the phenomena. If the response is positive and encouraging then we know that if we ever find ourselves in a similar situation in the future we will react in the same manner. If the response is negative but encourage, we will once again react in the same manner when a similar situation occurs in the future. But if the response is negative/postive but disencouraging, when we find ourselves in a similiar situation we will know that we will have to try something different.
So to answer your question: Past behavior is a good predicter of future behavior.

this ? can be related to "is their a god".
if our lives have destiny, then it must have been set down by some entity[destiny is different from predetermined.if i kick a ball,i can predetermine where it will land using mechanics.but destiny is a property of mind and soul, indeterminable.]if we have free will,a similar entity must have given us the ability to choose[ex;animals do not have free will, they are guided by pure instinct]and i doubt an accident could create something as complex and abstract as the ability to choose.

so,i never really answered your ?.instead i used it as a vehicle to mack a......."higher" point

Destiny is a choice we can make ourselves if we are not afraid to go forth boldly and should certainly be differentiated from 'fate' which some people think is a sort of pre-destiny.
We always arrive at a place where our choices take us.

We all have free will......but....what if free will is part of our destiny. I don't mean this to be elliptical...but the choices we make do determine the outcome of our lives.

We have no will till we are adults ( just ask your parents ) but once we turn 18...YES we have free will. We determine our paths by what decisions we make as adults..We either make good decisions or bad decisions but if we are on a bad road we can make a decision to change that and turn our lives around so it is not destiny...

We are the sum of our life, the expression of our whole past unto the first generation. All of which has brought to bear forces that shape and mold our minds, our will, and our perceptions. We can only choose among the choices that we perceive as presented to us. These choices are seldom of our own making alone. Thus it is that we interact with the universe to obey its bidding because we can do nothing else. It is the way we are made.
