Dextrose is not an artificial sugar it is natural.
Dextrose is nothing but glucose.
chemically D glucose (which means it has configuration of H and OH in the last two carbons.,if u know the structure of glucose you'll understand what D is, but nothing to worry ,just remember Dextrose is glucose which is a natural sugar)

It is a challenge to be sure. Natural sugars are those present in the primary ingredient of the product. Yogurt for instance, if it boasts "no added sugar" means the sugars present are from the milk and any fruit present, so you will have Lactose (milk sugar) and Fructose (fruit sugar). High Fructose Corn Sugar is kind of inaccurate or misleading since Naturally occurring corn sugar is Dextrose, however additional processing renders it a different end product. I'll try to help you with a list...but it is not all encompassing and may be missing a few. So I recommend some more research. If the sweetener name ends in "al" "ol" or "tol" i.e. mannitol, xylotol, sorbitol...it is a sugar derived from alcohol and isn't really good for children. Another rule used to be if it ended in "ose" it was a natural sugar....sucralose ended that (Splenda) so you can no longer use that rule. Understand too there are simple sugars and complex ones, as a general rule, the more a raw sugar is refined, the more complex it becomes, and the harder it is for the body to digest since your body (primarily the liver and pancreas) need to break complex sugars into simple glucose in order to render it usable for cellular consumption and energy production. Glucose = the simplest sugar and readily consumable on a cellular level, it is derived from more complex sugars such as those below. Sucrose = sugar derived from sugar cane or sugar beets only, can be simple (raw sugar) or complex (white sugar) Fructose = fruit sugar Maltose = malt sugar, derived from malted barley Dextrose = corn sugar Lactose = milk sugar These are the most common...there are more since all foods contain sugars in varying concentrations and forms. "artificial" sweeteners Sodium Saccharine = Saccharin, produced from coal tar....yeah, no kidding. Sweet but can leave a metallic aftertaste if you overdo it. Sucralose = Splenda, actually made from cane or beet sugar, but the molecular structure has been re-arranged to render the end product sweet, but un-digestible by the body. Aspartame = Nutrasweet, also derived from beet sugar and chemically modified to be un-digestible, but still sweet. There are dozens more.... Natural and calorie free... Stevia, very sweet, but not for everyone, some people have taste receptors (I am one unfortunately) that perceive a very bitter aftertaste in Stevia....but woo! This stuff is SWEET! Again, there are more...you just have to research, start by looking up monosaccharide and polysacchride sugars to get a more in-depth and scientific view. Eliminating sugar from your diet may sound easy, but it is far more difficult than you can imagine.

Guys PLEASE! Dextrose is a genetically modified form of glucose that is derived from CORN. It is HIGHLY processed. You cannot extract dextrose without a scientist and some serious chemicals. The reason food companies use dextrose in their foods is because it is way cheaper than sugar cane and it is HIGHLY ADDICTIVE. It is just as addictive as cocaine or heroin. And it DOES cause crappy side effects like depression, headaches, diabetes, obesity, irritable bowel syndrome, thrush, skin diseases, fatigue etc. Your body does not digest this crap properly and the bad bacteria inside your intestinal system feed off of things like DEXTROSE and begin to multiply. These food additives are why people are obese in this country and why people die in the thousands from cancer. Wake up people!

What Is Dextrose

2016-09-29 05:33:22 · answer #6 · answered by ? 4 · 0 0

yes, it is natural. Dextrose is the common name for the biologically usable form of glucose known as d-glucose. This distinguishes it from L-glucose which can't be used by cells.
It is found in hundreds of natural things such as honey and fruit.

I have never heard anyone have any bad reactions or negative things to say about stevia. I'm pretty sure it's the safest non-caloric sweetener on the market. The only drawback is the taste which can be a bit off putting and bitter if you use to much or are not used to it. I use Erythritol mixed with a bit of stevia myself.
