Calling a modem from a browser?

Hello,

This is for a call center application that is web-based. I need to be able to click on a link on the web page (or automatically when the page loads) and get the modem that is installed on the PC to call the number.

I was thinking of some applet or activeX control (the machines are always PCs).

Any suggestions on how to find a solution?

You are correct, a Java applet or ActiveX control are the only ways to accomplish what you're describing. So, I'd recommend learning how to control a dial-up modem using Java.
