I just got to the Kakashi gaiden arc in naruto and I want to skip it and go straight to Shippuden, saving Kakashi gaiden for whenever. Will I miss anything important to the story if I do? Please do NOT give details on what I'll miss if the answer is yes.

Kakashi Gaiden addresses some of the more mysterious details about Kakashi that have been hinted at throughout the rest of the manga/animie. It's not gravely important in terms of the storyline. There is one incident relatively early on in Shippuuden that assumes you have read Kakashi Gaiden, but it's a mere side story and doesn't concern the overall plot. Even though it's rather insignificant, I don't want to spoil it for you. Let's just say it involves a mistaken identity.

I hope you will read Gaiden eventually. I consider it to be one of the best story arcs.

it's a side story. it gives you some neat information about kakashi back in the day, but isn't super useful to the storyline just yet. they haven't made the anime of this just yet, but might later down the road.

alls i know is... goooo naruto!

You don't really have to read that part to understand the storyline, it just explains kakashi's childhood that we viewers and readers don't know about. Yes, you can skip that part, and read it later. You won't be lost at all.
