Write about something in the Arts...
These pieces were made in 1943:

1) "Painter Piet Mondrian finishes his best known work of art, the painting Broadway Boogie Woogie, now at the Museum of Modern Art, New York."
2) "British sculptor Barbara Hepworth begins creating a series of hollow, wood pieces that combine painting, sculpture, and biomorphic shapes."
3) Being and Nothingness by Jean-Paul Sartre is published.
Novelist Ayn Rand publishes The Fountainhead, the story of a self-involved architect."
Just pick one, do a google or yahoo search on it, and wala! Instant paper. :)

Before the world war TWO, there was much frivolous activity and one was about the Flappers, the way they dresssed, the way they danced and the wild life they lead....which stopped abruptly with the onset of the war. Jazz had become very popular at that time of the Flappers, so write about that. Look it up on the internet.

Well, there's the imprisonment of Japanese Americans during WWII. That certainly violated their civil rights. Not to mention losing their property and businesses.

i don't really remember most of my US History class so i don't want to give you a topic from the wrong era, but you should check out pultizer.org it gives the articles and winners of all pulitzer prizes since 1917, so those should help you find a good topic.
