Every baby is different, and while formula babies tend to soil their diapers more than breasfed ones, I wouldn't go so far as to say 48 hours is that abnormal. I know a baby (mine) who would go four or five days at a time without soiling one and while we were a bit nervous, the doctors were pretty confident.

Before doing any 'home remedies', give your doctor a call. (Please god don't stick anything up there until you talk to a doctor!!!! Serious--there can be complications). The doctor might recommend a few different things, from the karo syrup to the thermometer to a bath. But on things like this, it is best to check with the doctor first.

(I suspect they will not be immediately worried about this, but will ask you to closely monitor and keep them informed about the next day or two).

Good luck

Why would you have medication for the flu? Its a virus, theres nothing you can do but ride it out...

What is the medication? I can look it up for you and see if its approved. Alot of doctors don't to the legwork, and just say its not approved to be safe.

And you need to realize that your baby is at risk for getting sick now. When he was nursing, he was getting anti-bodies.. now hes not.

Im still really trying to figure out what they would give you for the flu!

Try changing formula or giving the baby a bottle with 1/3 apple juice and water. If neither one of those work the call the doctor.

There are a few home remedies you can try. I have given my son light karo syrup in a bottle of formula ans well as maple syrup, if those do not work you can buy glycerin suppositories and a local drug store, they are medication free. It is probably due to the change in nourishment, iron...etc.

i wouldnt give him anything ...a breastfed baby can go up to 20 days w/o pooping. Giving him formula is only going to make him not poop even more. Formula is harder to digest than breastmilk.
Did you try to look up the meds to see if it was safe? Most are ok , you need to worry more on if it will give you supply issues (breastmilk) I hope your pumping to keep your supply up if you are giving formula.

Also I would not offer anything but breastmilk (your baby is only 2 months old.no juice etc etc) Solids or jucies is not rec. until 6 months.....plus Breastmilk will help your baby not get your cold

ooh and watch out....when he does poop........it will be a mess. I know from the past!

When I switched my baby to formula she didn't poop for almost 4 days....then she pooped like 5 times (big ones) in one day. The switching from breastmilk (which is like a laxative) to formula quickly like that can change the way they digest. If he looks okay, is happy, isn't straining like he's trying to poop, and is peeing good, he's probably fine. But, calling your pediatrician to ask wouldn't hurt! (esp. for your peace of mind).

Try some diluted prune or apple juice. Just a couple ounces should do the trick. :)

you probably didn't use enough water in the formula...that happens a lot...I think after a while back on the breast he should be fine...try a little fruit juice, that could help
