I just bought a pressure washer and the motor runs but when I press the trigger on the gun nothing happens. It is an electric 1500psi pressure washer, very cheap. Has anyone come across this problem before?

CHECK FOR LOW WATER PRESSURE OR RESTRICTED FLOW AT INPUT. THIS WILL CAUSE A FLIMSY HOSE TO COLLAPSE AND CUT OFF THE WATER TO THE MACHINE. WHEN YOU SHUT THE MACHINE DOWN TO TROUBLESHOOT, THE HOSE EXPANDS AND LOOKS GOOD AND FOOLS YOU SO YOU CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM.

Try removing the entire hose first. If water is flowing, connect the hose and remove just the nozzle. Something must be plugged, you need to narrow it down by elimination.

My bet is that there's junk or rust in the nozzle.

If that solves your problem, get a can of pump lubricant designed for these washers. DeWalt makes one, but there are others. It look like a spray can but the clear tube has a hose type fitting on the end. After you empty the washer, you squirt this cleaner/lube in there before storage. Prevents corrosion, which will mess up your pump or jam in the nozzle otherwise.

That might be an issue to find as they generally only allow for soap which needs to come out slower so it does not get blasted off when trying to apply it. I think your only option is to introduce the fluid with an attachment to the hosepipe before it reaches the pressure washer, even then if the fluid is corrosive it could cause issues.

three things could be wrong ....nozzle could be stopped up.or the wand valve might not be opening when you squeeze trigger..or the pressure bypass valve might not be working ...on most units when they are not spraying water there is a valve that recirculates the water to keep pump from building excessive pressure....would remove nozzle first and see if it will spray water ...if it does clean nozzle...if it don't remove hose from wand and see if it sprays then...if it does replace wand if it don't check bypass regulator valve..

I have on a gas powered one. The nozzle was clogged from calcium and even after cleaning didn't perform at all. Finally bought a new nozzle and it works.
