Why Were Many Europeans discontented with the Chruch?

Well, some men were selling indulgences to help raise money for St. Peter's.

Also, more and more Europeans were reading the Bible (thank you Guttenberg and your printing press) and were beginning to question the traditional interpretations of Scripture.

The growing independence of the middle cla ss led them to question whether or not they should have to use a priest to obtain salvation (via the sacraments)

Also, the Black Plague gave people a crisis of faith that led to their being more likely to question the Church's authority. This carried over into humanism which set the stage for Martin Luther.

Through the church they had to pay really high taxes and were not etting any better public services. Also, the pope confined the people to his veiws only, which many didn't really agree with. This opened up an outlet for the persecution of the Protestants and other Europeans who did not agree with the church.

Because many of the European countries had "State Churches" That meant that the people didn't have a choice of what church to go to. They had to go to the "State Church".
Many left Europe for spiritual freedom in the United States.
This also historically coincided with the potato famine in Europe.

My great grandparents came to Minnesota from Sweden for religious freedom and for a better life.

They have been the problem for the beginning. Guess who the Pilgrims where. They continue to be the problem. They run the U.S. and all the other places; that's why the world is in the evil state that it is. They started out to conquer the world and they won't stop until they destroy it or they are stopped.
