An experiment was done on one subject (n=1) in which heart rate, ventilation, blood pressure, oxygen consumption was measure in a 5 minute period of rest, 5 min period of light exercise and 4 min period of recovery.
I graphed heart rate, and the other factors over time and that showed a steady increase.
How do I show (preferably through a graph) a correlation between 2 factors such as oxygen consumption and heart rate?
If I did an x-y scatter plot with oxygen on one axis and heart rate on the other, would this work?

yes that would work. Then if you happen to be using excel or something, try adding a linear trendline (excel - right click on the data points=>add trendline), get it to display the r2 value - this is a measure of deviation from the fit line (1=perfect correlation 0=poor), as a general rule above 0.8 is really good. the equation is useful if you want to predict one variable from the other.

Yes, heart rate would be the x value and the oxygen consumtion would be the y value and the x-y scatter plot would show a distinct correlation if it exists. There are some software tools for correlation studies. You could use them too.
