About 7 years ago, I was upstairs in one of our bedrooms watching tv on one of those old television sets, the kind that you have to turn the dial to change the channels (and the channel numbers are printed on the dial itself). Well, the dial started to turn by itself, changing the channels. It went from channel 8 to channel 16! Could an electrical malfunction in the tv cause it to physically move the dial?

It's hard to say for sure, but if it only happened once and hasn't happened since it may not be that easy to chalk it up to supernatural phenomena. That being said, if there is not an electrical issue resonsible, and there are reoccurences, the possibilty that it was supernatural cannot be ruled out. If it happens again, try taking a picture in the general direction of the activity and see what shows up.

it could have been a poltergeist which is different fro a ghost. The poltergeist affects things in the material world I have had a couple of experiences with these. Ghosts are generally something that you just see or hear. Or it could be that your dial had a spring in it that finally busted and caused your tv to change channels

Possibly, but more than likely you were watching Springer on 8 and the TV showed some judgement and filpped it to Oprah on 16.
