My parents have always called me a different name that what is on my birth certificate. It has caused alot of confusion because the names are totally different and half of my documents say one thing while the others say another. I've decided to change my name to reflect the name everyone has called me since the day I was born. While I'm doing this I was thinking of adding a middle name of Thunderpants. Should I do this. I think it's pretty funny and shows I have a sense of humor about myself. But maybe some might think it disrespectful or arrogant. I'm curious what you think. I will make the final decision but thought this a good forum to get feedback. By the way I am being totally serious and this is a real question.

In response to scruffycat, I'm 28 years old. I think I can live with it a long time. It's only a middle name and hey I can always change it again.

A sense of humor like that should be a crime waste! Dont forget a rose by any other name would smell just as sweet!

Arrogant? I don't see how. Thunderpants sounds like you have a really bad case of the farts.

Here's the only thing to consider. Consider your age. If you are young, it sounds humorous now, but will it be a thing of regret later?

I'm thinking of Charlotte Zolotow's daughter, who changed her name to Crescent Dragonwagon during her hippie days, then regretted it when she tried to get jobs in the real world. JUst make sure you can be happy with the name for the long haul...

By the way I don't know what your first name is but I thought of Hugo Thunderpants or Philip Thunderpants.

Go ahead, but you may regret it and have to change it back later. But if you have the money for numerous name changes, get on it like a hon-it.
