Excellent - long may he keep it up! I'm an avid F1 fan and supported Michael Schumacher for all his career. Lewis is now my man and I'm really looking forward to seeing what he can do this year. He's quick and I hope it wasn't a one off and that we get to see much more of his brilliant talent this season.

He did extremely well. Here's why:

1) thru the w/end he was never more than .3 of a second off Alonso's pace.

2) at the start of the race, realising he was going to be boxed in by Alonso and DeLa Rosa, he went from the inside around the outside to overtake Alonso. Tremendous vision!!

3) he held the 2 time world champion behind him and was never seemingly under pressure.

4) he held onto 2nd place and was only compromised by a backmarker baulking him....allowing Alonso to close the gap.

5) all this AND had never raced Oz before!!!!!!

I wish Hamilton all the best for the 2007 season. He has already exceeded many people's expectations already I'm sure....

Even Todt had the foresight to pat him on the back - maybe this is a future Ferrari signing we're looking at.

Hamilton gave an unexpected performance in Australian grand prix. Being a Rookie and getting the third spot is really a great thing to achieve as it was done before in 1996. This performance of him is a clear indication that one day he will rule F1 but at the same time we have to think a while coz its F1 and anything can happen in this Sport.....NMN

He did well. But this championship will be for Alonso or Kimi.
Hamilton will learn how to race this year. Australia is a horrible circuit. No one likes that place. When F1 gets to Cataluna (Barcelona) We will know who is the best this year.
Hamilton has a good car and an great team. He needs to grow. Alonso took from him the 2nd place due to a ROOKIE mistake he made comming out of the Pit. De la Rosa was better then him for this team. I assure you that when De la Rosa gets a chance to race with this field from the season starts, he will be up there in the top 5 drivers.

It was exceptional. Not since Jacque have we seen a rookie on the podium of his first Grand Prix. I don't want to get ahead of myself because it's only one race, but I think we are looking at a future champion and not just some flash in a pan. Personally, I also hope that he is a lifer with McLaren so there is always some excitement coming from that end of the pits. I am a true Tifosi, but I love to see good racing and he is for sure one of the sports future stars. I guess we'll know for sure when we see the season unfold.

I think that it was superb. For the guy who said that he just came in second. Well you don't really know too much because seeing as to where McLaren was last year car wise, they have made significant progress forward. And for Hamilton to do what he did on his debut on a track that he has no experience on, is pretty good. If you don't think it that's good, look at Heikki's performance, and he was a Friday test driver last year. He also had a year of testing, Lewis didn't really start testing till late last year. Come on, give the kid a break.

Excellent - but I see the sports writers are out with the cliches and sly nudges. Witness Jonathan McEvoy in Monday's Daily Mail; after his morbid a.rse-licking, he decided to offer a couple of uppercuts '...It was the same strength of character which led to Lewis's father, Anthony to stay on the straight and narrow when friends were turning to crime.' Mr. McEvoy ends it there without magnifying the alleged criminal acts of Anthony Hamilton's 'friends', I suspect none of them ended up in any court - but it makes good copy nonetheless. Giggle No.2; 'Hamilton is now at ease with himself, spending time listening to his favourite music - R&B, reggae, hip-hop and funky house'. You don't say!! But I suspect the Mail would sneer and snarl if Lewis told Mr. McEvoy opera, Tchaikovsky, Walton and Vaughan Williams were his loves. So - 'black' 'turning to crime' and his favourite music...and here's us reading about another sports legend to be! Trust the Mail to show it's hand so soon. That should put Lewis on the watch for what may happen if he puts half a step out of line in what looks like a super career, with the usual suspects watching every move he makes (be it on the track or elsewhere).

Kimi very lovable at making a Ferrari wider than scrutineers may enable. Lewis left no the position to bypass and as he had the bypass on the outdoors and given the room may have made it stick. no longer some thing suggested about Kimi over use of the nook that compelled the priority in the first position. i ask your self in the journey that they could of tangled who the blame may of been leveled at.? Lewis gave back the area because the regulations dictate so is it Lewis's fault that Kimi might want to no longer get adequate grip to take advantage of the convenience given back to him ?. This stinks vast time and in undemanding words serves to practice that Ferrari have not in any respect been punished to the reduce as are different communities, Schumi always took this piss at the same time as he might want to and replaced into allowed to escape with it.

Shady, Hi.
I managed to stay awake long enough to see Lewis Hamilton fire into 3rd position.
A fine chap in my book, a bloomon' good F1 driver, so fair play to the millions he will earn.
I crashed my cart when I was about 13, so that was the end of my racing career.
I hope that he goes from strength to strength in the profession, and I will be wishing that I hadn't crashed the cart. Lewis didn't.

Bob.

Lewis is a good driver, but he has alot to prove. He recently stated that he wants to be champion in three years. That is not an easy task to accomplish, but it is possible. Schumacher did it in his third season. But then again that was Schumacher. I think Lewis has an unfair advantage coming into F1 racing for one of the top teams. Nobody that I can think of has had that privelage, so if he dosen't produce results soon Mclaren may give him the Montoya treatment.
