It's pretty simple. He's playing nice because he gave his word, and he said he would stay if they let Kate and Sawyer go. He will play along while gathering information on what The Others are up to.

I wouldn't give up on the good Doctor just yet. I think He and the blonde are planning something and He's just playing along right now.
As of last Episode I actually have more questions about Mr. Locke. I find it hard to believe He "accidentally" blew up the radio station while taking the time to save alittle C-4 in His bag.
Then He suspiciously kills their captive by throwing Him into the Sonic Fence, turning His Brains to scrambled Eggs.
It seems Locke has something to hide. And I understand this next episode will address some of those questions.

I loved last nites Lost!! I'm not sure about Jack, think he;s going along with it just now. He'll be faithful to his lot soon enough. That was his dad that's Claire's dad, wasn't it? So that makes them half bro and sis. And makes him Aaron's Uncle. It gets stranger and stranger!! But FABBY!!!

I think he is "playing along" or maybe he's got "Stockholm Syndrome". Who knows? This show is slowly getting on my nerves but yet I still watch it.

I think he's suffering from a case of Stockholm Syndrome (where people who have been taken hostage / prisoner start to sympathise with their captors).
