RIght now you are rich, rich in TIME. When you get older you will not have as much time as you have now. So use your free time for more than just drinking beer, playing Xbox, and working on your car.

Invest your time in learning more about the career path you want to pursue. Want to pursue a hobby, do it now while your parents are still paying for it! Or go learn a trade on the side for a backup. It wouldn't hurt to start hanging around the job fairs and talking to the folks that can get you going in the right direction. There is so much available at college. It's never too early to start networking.

If your job or your plans for college fall through, you will be behind the power curve, so always have a backup. No one likes taking a job for $7 an hour because they can't find one that pays $30 an hour.

Just because your parents can afford to support you now does not mean they will be able to next year.

Heck no.....you are not poor. I consider you wealthy and honestly would like you to loan me your money. You don't need it. You have no debt, no car loan....folks pay for college you have a job, live at home and you have a paycheck coming.....

Ok, if you were poor, you would NOT have your college paid for by your parents. If you were broke you would NOT have $3000 in savings. So that MUST make you "or what".

$3000 in savings neither makes you poor nor rich. You have more than someone who is living paycheque to paycheque with a bank account in overdraft, for example.

The fact your parents pay for everything makes you lucky indeed.
