What are the best professions on World of Warcraft?

I just made a undead mage, it's a level 7 right now. What do you think would be the best professions for it? Why? What would make the most money?

well it depends. there really isnt the best for any class. i have a 61 mage and its professions are tailoring and enchanting. are they the best no for a mage not really. i mainly choose tailoring because i am a mage and they wear cloth so i thought that if i make cloth items i would use them i was wrong. now enchanting is a good profession if you want to make money, but the down side is that you wont make it till you get to the high levels of enchanting like 200+ more like 225+ and on your way getting there you will be very poor because of the fact that every green you get you will disenchant instead of vendoring it or even selling it in the auction house. but with my 61 mage i can make over 60 gold just by selling 2-5 disenchanted items i.e. large brilliant shard arcane dust etc. the profession i like the most was engineering because of the trinkets you could make. i would say if you are just starting gathering professions would be the best. herbalism,mining (good right now because of the Jewel crafting profession), and skinning. you will make good money with. i have a lvl 32 that has mining and skinning and i have made over 100g just from selling bars, and leather.

If you want to make money, stick to gathering professions. Don't even bother with any crafting stuff.

I'd take skinning and mining.

Any combination of skinning, mining, and herbalism. You can train them without spending more than a few copper, and after awhile you can make a ton of money.
