I have 3 kids and I allowed them to sleep till they woke up on their own and wanted to eat. Some people say wake them up every 2 or 3 hours to eat I never did and all 3 are healthy and I never had any problems at all. They woke up on their own every 3 to 4 hours at times they would go 6 but on the norm it was 3-4.
New born babies will sleep often as they get older they will not require as much rest.
When she sleeps try to rest yourself :)
if you are worried she is not feeding because of sleeping then you can wake her on a schedule that you feel good with for examp: every 3 hours wake her to eat.
But other then feeding and a ever so often wake time new borns will sleep a lot it is fine.. no worries :) as they get older you will notice she is up much more often.
Good luck!! and enjoy!!

Don't worry, newborns sleep almost all the time, when my daughter was first born, she would only wake up to feed, then go back to sleep pretty quickly. Often we had to actually wake her up every 3 or 4 hours to make sure she was getting enough to eat. Being born must be hard work for a baby, so it makes sense she'll be needing heaps of sleep
Honestly, make the most of this time, it'll never be like this again! Congratulations on your new baby :)

My son, he's 3 months old he slept like 6-8 hours in a row he only woke up to eat, then back to sleep he went. It's normal for newborns to sleep 20-23 hours a day. Don't worry it's normal!

my first born sleep around 16-20 hours a day and my son seriously slept 23 hours of the day. he would sleep for about 4-6 hours in a row, i would have a hard time getting him to eat because he just wanted to keep sleeping. oh yea the hour he was up was not an hour straight. it was like 10 minuets here 5 minuets there. good luck take advantage of that now, i know its hard cause you ve been waiting so long for her, and now you want to play with her. dont worry its normal for them to sleep a lot.

my daughter slept what seemed like all day and night. all babies are different. my son when he was a newborn slept about 16-18 hours a day, on and off. My daughter slept about 22 hours a day. I wouldn't worry too much about it, unless you can't wake her every three-four hours for feeding. Talk to her doctor when she goes for her visit. As long as she's getting enough ounces of formula or breast milk, don't worry that she's not up....enjoy it!!! you need recovery time.

when I had my son, they told me to wake him every 3 hours and try to feed him 2 oz. We did this for a couple of weeks. Then we let him sleep longer, I hate waking a sleeping baby.

It seems as though they sleep forever when you first get them home!!! Around 18-20 hours. They only wake when they need something to eat or their diapers need changed!!

after 3 hours, wake up your baby and feed her. for the first couple weeks you have to wake her up every 3 hours to feed her. cuz she will be so tired, she will not be able to wake up herself. the nurses told me that when i had my daughter. every night, i always set my alarm every 3 hours to feed my baby. cuz my baby would not wake up for herself.
