All three of mine were born spontaniously occuring, unmedicated labors and births.

#1 - unmed hospital birth with resident (fired the on-call jerk doc) - about 18 hours of labor, including about 45 mins of pushing.

#2 - waterbirth in a freestanding birth center with a midwife - about 4 hours of labor including about 15 to 20 minutes of pushing? Pushed for a few mins, MW broke my water at 12:00 midnight and at 12:12 she was born.

#3 - home waterbirth with midwife - about 6 hours of labor including pushing - pushing phase was probably 10-15 minutes

On average, a first time mom pushes for around two hours. That is, however, an average. Some people can push for way less, and some for way more. It just depends on the person and the pregnancy. With my first I pushed for around 10-15 minutes. For most people, the second baby comes much faster. I am currently 6 weeks pregnant with my second baby. One thing that supposedly helps with the pushing phase of labor is doing Kegal exercises. I did them, and I am convinced that is a major factor into why my baby came out so fast and with no tearing or epesiotomy. They help to strengthen the area around where the baby comes out and allows it to stretch more easily. I hope this helps and good luck! Do not be discouraged with how long it takes though. Everyone is different and that's okay!

Wow after reading all the above posts, I realise how lucky I am.
Baby #1only took 3 pushes on my chart it says 3 minutes.
Baby # 2 well he was out on the first push. The mid wife asked me to get off the bed and try a new position, I was getting off the bed and my water broke with my son right behind it. The poor mid wife had only one glove half on and she caught him an inch from the floor by an arm and a leg.
Baby #3 Same 1st push and she was here. Poor little girl landed in the toilet. I was in the birthing suite and I told the mid wife that I have my babies very quickly and she didn't believe me. She said it was time to get up and go to the toilet I argued that I didn't want to and she insisted so I went. I didn't do anything luckily lol, but I said the baby is coming and she just clapped her hands and splash my little girl was bottom down in the toilet.
I am now 10 weeks with #4 and I am going to try to convince the mid wife to watch carefully or my next one might just hit the floor.LOL

I pushed for about an hour and a half with my first, I didn't push with my second (they had me roll on my side to wait for my doctor to arrive and the baby just slid out lol, water was still intact), and my 3rd I pushed about twice (took maybe 5 minutes). Trust me when I say push hard! You want to make this part as short as possible! The harder you push the faster the baby comes out :) Good luck.

On average for the first baby it usually takes about 1-2 hours. It all depends on your body, if you have an epidural, how you push, and the way the baby is positioned. I went natural and pushed by holding my feet together with my hands. I gave birth to a 10 lb 4 oz baby boy (I am 5'6" & 138 not pregnant) in 22 minutes.

That varies. It can take minutes or hours. With my first I was pushing for 20 minutes and my second for about 10. I've know woman who have pushed for up to 2 hours though. I did a lot of those pregnancy exercises and walking when I was pregnant. I've heard that helps with labor and delivery.

I pushed for 45 minutes. The first few pushes were akward, with everyone watching, but after that I got the hang of it and didn't care about others watching. I also had an epidural which was wonderful.

My last pregnancy was twins. I pushed the first out in 30 minutes and his brother was delivered 4 minutes after that.
