Basically they can do anything they want to, it's their store. As long as people continue to support store policies by shopping there they won't be inclined to change a thing.

When it comes to Pacus, they don't want them back. The fish will grow to 20". Selling them and most large Plecos is very irresponsible. You have this very young baby, a few weeks old, its only 3" you have no idea what you are in for... it should be banned. Too many non-native fish are being released when the owner can't care for them. If they survive, they destroy the environment they were released into.

my local store did this to me to, but not cause of my water ph levels and ammiona levels because i bought 14 fish and i brought back 4. Depends really on the employes i think, because i broght the same fish twice the nicer person exchanged the with no prob (second time) First pweson refused insisting i killed the fish, i guess they do have that power cause it's their store but they shoulden't in my opinion, besides the new fish i got are living like a charm 7 months straight nothing is a matter withy them, so it was them.

Over the last year I've returned over 10 fish to petco. because of many things from being eatin alive to almost instant death beacause the heater got unplugged some how. So if they don't then call the head office and they'll help take care of it.

Check the receipt for their return policy or ask them for a writen copy of their policy at the store. Any store should allow you to return the fish within 5 days, but their policy might not allow it. If they give you a problem, I wouldn't buy fish there anymore.

wat was the ph reading? you should have asked to talk to the store mananger and them that the fish wasnt looking good the day you baught it. i used to work at petco and they usually dont have a problem returning fish aspecially if this was the first fish you have returned. your pH could have read anywhere from 6.5-7.5 and it should have been fine i would like to kno wat they told you.

of course they can do this... it's written on the back of every receipt and purchase card... It only makes sense... I mean, why should the store be responisble for your bad water?
