I filed a claim with the insurance and they are listing it as water damage and I was told that if the mold was spread out they could take my home. We still owe over $5000 so it makes me wonder if they will provide us somewhere else to live? I don't even know if this is the bad mold but from looking on the net, I would have to say it is. And it is in other rooms of the house (I checked). It's so gross but I was told not to clean it until they look at it which will be in 2-3 days. What should I do? Besides move.

Call your insurance company & ask them these questions & if you get a tap dance from them, please seek the advice of a lawyer & go from there.

It would depend on how much it will cost to repair. They may call it a total loss and give you a check for the insured amount less the amount you owe on it. Then you are on your own to find another place. The insurance co would probably sell it for what they could and recoop some of their loss.

It's just the same with the automobile insurance.

I bet it's mildew, which is far more common than mold. When they clear you, just clean it up with bleach and paint with Kilz. Done!
