if you've never been published, I suggest you finish your novel before trying to publish it.
this site has some info about manuscript formatting, if you navigate around the site you'll find info on agents and editros and publishing too!

If it means that much to you, you have to put in the time to learn how to do it. We've all been in that position at one time or another and had to learn. Go to Resolved Questions and surf -- the question has been answered many many times here in great detail. Also purchase a copy of Writers Market and read it. You can also join Absolute Write Water Cooler Forum. They often have guest editors, publishers and agents answering specific questions there. C.

i would write to the most popular publishing houses and others too, i also would look at magazines index pages in the back of the magazine sometimes they are looking for fresh new stories but i would make sure to have your work copy righted to ensure against someone stealing your manuscipt. find a poetry and story telling club where you can read a portion of your work, never know who is in the audience.

You will need an agent. That is about the only way.
