It's called entertainment. Why do you buy CDs and then quit listening to them, or replace a perfectly good cell phone, or buy a diffrent video game? ENTERTAINMENT!
I take it that you are not a gambler...fine...if you don't like to gamble....don't go, but don't bash others for entertaining themselves legally as they choose to with their own money.

i work in a casino, many lose money but we pay out millions every month also, that's why it's a gamble, you just never know.

The people always think that maybe, just maybe, that they will win the next time they play. they are scared that if they leave the slot machine, someone else will play and win. they also think that if they keep playing, the will win.

I won $1,500 last weekend. I win way more than I loose. But I'm a lucky person:)

Cuz sometimes they win money and it is fun and exciting.
