exactly what wars are they referring to?

Besides the Crusades, which was initiated because the Muslims closed the Christian holy lands, and the ongoing and continuous Muslim conquests and defeats in the name of Allah, what wars have been started due to religious beliefs?

Have Christians ever actually promulgated a war based on religion? I can't come up with any off the top of my head.

A couple of the wars in Europe resulted from conflicts between Catholics and Protestants. Arguably the "Troubles" in Ireland were the last gasp of that era.

Most wars happen because one country has something the other one wants and goes to get it.

Iraq's invasion of Kuwait in August 1990 was more a "war for oil" than anything else that has happened since, including the present conflict.

Christians did start a war based on religion called the Crusades, when Catholic Pope Urban II decided in 1092 to take back the Holy Land from the Muslims (even though European powers had not had any power in that part of the world since the fall of the Roman Empire in the 400's AD).

Most wars however have been fought for control of limited resources. Oil has been a major motivator to fight a war in the last century. Japan's attack on the United States at Pearl Harbor was about oil, Germany's invasion of Russia was about oil, and the Allies defending North Africa and the Middle East was about oil. The acquisition of resources has led to far more wars than religion ever has. Religion is usually an easy excuse to get the population of a nation behind your war effort.

The fact that religion plays a large part in many wars is hard to argue against. Why did Hitler hate the Jews so much? Here's a quote from Hitler:
I believe today that I am acting in the sense of the Almighty Creator. By warding off the Jews I am fighting for the Lord's work. [Adolph Hitler, Speech, Reichstag, 1936]

How is it possible to ignore the religious connotations between Muslims and Jews that cause so much violence and warring in the Middle East? Islamic fundamentalists think we are all infidels and deserve death because we do not follow Allah. People base their belief systems for life on the belief systems of their religion. They act in accordance with those belief systems, and it causes wars to happen, and violence to occur on a daily basis.

We were attacked on 9/11 by Islamic fundamentalist extremists who see us as, literally, The Great Satan. We are now in a war fighting Al Queda, as well as fighting insurgents in Iraq who cannot agree because of their religious differences. I wonder how anyone can fail to notice this and claim that religion holds no part in modern war.

faith has oftentimes been a device to justify conflict. Even chilly wars. case in point; Reagan declared the Soviet Union to be a godless evil empire, which one way or the different justified an fingers race. George W. Bush called our conflict in Iraq a campaign. for sure, in the accurate that's about economics and administration. yet to assert faith isn't a ingredient that excites and/or entices the prevalent public into accepting conflict is naive. EDIT: break of day C, have self assurance what you'll. yet maximum leaders use faith to inspire their armies, in spite of what the conflict is unquestionably about. know what which ability? It signifies that faith is indirectly accountable. What did Pol Pot do? What did Caesar do? What did Stalin do? all of them used faith in a unmarried form or yet another to inspire their armies. the certainly conflict motives are specifically over territory and wealth. EDIT: Stalin used Christianity at the same time as it replaced into maximum accessible to regulate the Christian inhabitants in Russia. He knew the potential it had. Stalin extensively utilized a state faith, a form of religion the position human beings were to worship Stalin and his authorities (including the flag) as best ruler. it continues to be faith. Hitler did a similar issue. Pol Pot used faith to dumb down his human beings and killed off the knowledgeable, or "re-knowledgeable" them in the killing fields. There disbelief in a supernatural being is neither right here nor there. they could've basically as honestly worshiped Chuthulu and had finished the very similar issues. EDIT: All of what you copied and pasted is exceedingly moot considering that faith drives a lot deeper and is no longer constrained to supernatural beings. football, case in point, is a kind of religion for most folk. on the different hand, atheism isn't homogeneous in words of philosophies and ideas. therefore, you've someone like Stalin be an atheist and someone like Phyllis Diller be an atheist, besides.

What other types of war are there? Basically almost all wars in history come down to religion or land. You do know there were wars before 1900 right? Most of those were over religion or land.

You are assuming here that Christianity is the only religion and the only religion you are talking about. Just look at the Islamic faith.

Because not to tell that lie would point us in the direction of Communism as the true cult of mass murder. Because most liberals secretly want government to care for all their needs and think only Communism can do that they must lie about who they are
