I would try a essential oils such as (patchouli oil) it has a great calming affect. suggest put some on a handkerchief also it wouldn't hurt to put some on the collar of your shirt/blouse. Also put some on your inter wrist. Lavender oil also works just as good calms the nerves, and before you start your speech take a deep breath look at your audience pick out a preson to your right and left that you think has a kind face and speak to them as if they were the only ones in the room. That way you won't look like your speaking to open space. Or you can do the old standby picture everyone in their under ware or naked, just don't start laughing because you won't be able to stop...

I recommend Rescue Remedy. I'll be taking some before a presentation tomorrow myself!

It's a combination of 5 flower oils, and it really works instantaneously. You can buy it at GNC or online. The description: "an all
natural form of healing that can
reduce everyday stress and help
maintain control of your health.
Effective in virtually any
situation that causes stress or
anxiety. Helps restore a sense of calm and control."

Do a lot of breathing exercises, and keep going over your presintation untill you can recite it in your sleep. The best advice, my drama teacher told me before I went on for a monolauge. Create a focal point, On the back wall behind the audience, JUST above their heads, and look all alont the back wall, it makes it look like your looking directly at the audience, but not having that direct eye contact can take off some of the nerves. Ginger root is a known anti-nausea agent, and passionflower is a known anti-anxity agent.

Ginger root is more readily available at drugstores, however. Passionflower is more hard to find, and you might have to find a health food store to purchase it.

Also, B Vitamins are known to help with anxiety, but they only kick in after a few months of use.

The best way to conquer anxiety, however, is to just gain control over your own mind with certain yoga and relaxation techniques. While it might sound lame, it helps if you practice yoga or meditation regulary. So if you're in a position where you hate public speaking, but have to do it often, I would give it a shot.

Good luck. You'll be fine.

Check out your local health food store. There are so many herbs and homepathic medicines that work really good for anxiety. My favorite would have to be "Bach's Rescue Remedy". It comes in a liquid dropper or a spray, just a couple of drops underneath the tongue and this will do the trick! Also try hopps or valerian or blue skull cap herbs

I tend to agree with the Answer that says you don't need anything. We often look to a pill to step thru life. Like he/she said; you know the material & have don your prep work. I would add to find 5+ minutes to yoiurself just before...to have a short time to let your mind 'drift' off to space & 'clear'...& you will be re-charged' to go & tell it like it is...Some folk even call this Meditation...whatever..just some private time that is 100% just you....no cell phone...no nothing...silence & @ most perhaps I'd lite a candle....Good Luck! You are going to be terrific!
