If you want to fly, San Diego is about as perfect you can get for weather during that time frame. Only beware of one thing...June Gloom. It comes after May Gray. San Diego gets a 'marine layer' during certain times of the year, generally about mid-June it's gone for the most part. It can happen any day of the year as San Diego is generally the same temperature year round. But it will not rain (it never rains in Southern California), and you will enjoy America's Finest City....and it really is.
If you want to drive....still go to San Diego. But if you want something closer to NC, that is not too hot....hmmm....the mountains of Tennessee are awesome, the Blue Ridge Parkway has incredible mountain streams and valleys and it's warm, but not too hot.
Safe travels!

San Diego, Ca. has a fabulous climate with no awful humidity. Google their chamber of commerce for all the fun things to do there. It's also easy to visit Mexico from there.
